This is October 6, the end of our first week on the Mississippi River Run tour. It’s an unscheduled day, so we could do what we wanted. We got our laundry done the night before so just had a few groceries to pick up and a fuel tank to fill. We wanted to take Gracie for a good long walk as she had been spending a lot of time alone in the trailer the past couple of days. As luck would have it, there’s a nice group of hiking / snowmobiling trails just a couple miles from the RV park. We headed over there and spent a few hours following trails around a lovely marsh area.

The perfect ending to a perfect autumn day would have to be a Halloween night. Fortunately there was just exactly that right next door in Minneapolis. Even luckier, Sheila and Michelle found out about it and clued us in. So we all went out to dinner together and then went to the Jack-o-Lantern Spectacular at the Minneapolis Zoo.
This is the fourth year the zoo has presented this amazing fund raising project. This year’s theme was A Night at the Library. Over 5,000 pumpkins were included in the display that wandered through a wooded area on the zoo grounds. Books, movies, music, games, authors, musicians, and things we learn were all featured in the the displays. It really was spectacular!
How many books, movies, games, people, locations, etc. can you identify in the following tiny sample from the exhibit? Let us know in the comments!
